Providence expected to ask school day reduction for storms

The board is expected to vote Monday night to seek the reduction.
School district spokeswoman Christina O’Reilly tells the station that would be followed by a petition to the state Council on Elementary and Secondary Education.
She said the proposal would “buy us back a little bit of breathing room” after six snow days.
The
Schools are required to be open at least 180 days, but can ask for emergency reductions.
